The Treacherous is a film based on the real historical figure of King Yeonsangun of Korea, notorious for his tyrannical rule. At the young age of 18, he ascended the throne unaware that his mother had been poisoned by the court officials. Throughout his reign, he carried out two brutal purges of Confucian scholars and even ordered the people to present ten thousand young girls and horses to satisfy his entertainment needs. The Treacherous delves into the story of Yeonsangun, the cruelest ruler in Korean history, who ruthlessly executed numerous scholars during his 11-year reign. He also recruited thousands of young girls into the palace as concubines to fulfill his insatiable desires for pleasure.
